The Program

The storms of life have a way of catching us all off guard.  They will even hit us when we’re already down, and sometimes, they inflict devastating damage.  Just look around you…you will see a world of hurting people.  Here’s what hurts the most: they don’t always know where to go to receive the help they need.

BreakFree is here to change that!  We are a safe place where people can go to recover and be surrounded by people who will love them just the way they are, and give them a place to belong.  It’s a caring, multi-cultural community where the color of someone’s skin, spiritual background or walk of life does not matter.  The goal of BreakFree is to help people re-build their lives and get back on the right path.

The BreakFree Program offers a six phase opportunity to transform individuals and families in crisis into a life of independence and self-sufficiency.  The program provides immediate intervention for those in need through:

  • Personal/Family Stabilization
  • Career Planning
  • Job Training
  • Job Placement
  • Education
  • Food Bank
  • Clothing Bank
  • Support Groups

BreakFree is committed to offer help and assistance to low-to-moderate income families and individuals.  This commitment enables families and individuals to extract themselves from poverty and reach toward a life of self-sufficiency.  BreakFree will provide a continuum of help and education for these families and individuals under the umbrella of the BreakFree Program.

PHASE ONE
Assessment – Trained Community Assistance Coaches will assess the individual and/or families seeking BreakFree’s Program help.  Each program member will be assigned a Community Assistance Coach which will walk along side them throughout their program process providing life coaching and case management.  During this process coaches will assess the immediate needs of the individual/family, and a program plan will be set in place to meet the needs of that individual/family.

PHASE TWO
Stabilization – Implementing the program plan will immediately bring help to the individual/families.  BreakFree will provide them with food, clothing, place them in support groups, make referrals to other agencies if the scope of their need falls outside the BreakFree Program Guidelines, and provide pastoral counseling for those who are in crisis.

PHASE THREE
Career Planning – Very often, employment stability is not just a matter of having a job; it’s being placed in a job that matches an individual’s skill-set, while also providing them with a sense of self-worth.  Again, skill assessment is a major part of job placement.  That being said, each individual will meet with a Career Planning Associate where they will complete the BreakFree Employment Assessment Form and set career and education goals.  Based on this information the Career Planning Associate will determine the areas of employment that would best fit the individual.  In addition, they will make recommendations on further job training.  The Career Planning Associate will then meet with the individual and their Community Assistance Coach and the career planning piece will be added to the case management portion of their program.

PHASE FOUR
Job Training - Job training will be an individualized program; whether it is providing further education needed to perform the job where an individual is currently being placed, or whether it is technical skills they need to meet the requirements of a job they want based on their goal setting.  BreakFree will provide job training in the areas of construction, manual labor, flagging, computer training, office and clerical, hospitality, and CAD Design.  In addition, classes will be provided that will address successful job interview skills, resume preparation and writing, proper work attire, personal grooming, work ethics, personal integrity, safety and sexual harassment on the job.

BreakFree will also partner with and utilize outside education based organizations to provide training for BreakFree Program participants.

PHASE FIVE
Job Placement – BreakFree has trained professionals who partner with and provide contracts with corporations and organizations in order to provide the highest level of jobs available in the marketplace.  As a non-profit organization BreakFree has the unique ability to procure preferential jobs within the marketplace because we work with low income and disadvantaged individuals.  This opportunity gives BreakFree the opportunity to have larger quantities of jobs available to the people we serve.

During the placement phase, the BreakFree job candidate will work closely with their Community Assistance Coach in order to secure employment.  Their coach will be available to them to address issues they face during the interview process, additional help they might need in terms of clothing for a particular job they have, or to simply lend support and encouragement during this phase.  Their coach will be available to them until they secure full-time employment and find stability for their future.

PHASE SIX
Long Range Goals –Work Retention Service
The value of building relationships provides solutions needed when people find themselves in trouble.  It is the goal of BreakFree to circumvent this process.  To accomplish phase six BreakFree will continue to work with individuals as they set long-term goals for their personal life and for their career.

BreakFree will be available to offer guidance whether it relates to furtherance of their education or simply provide a helping hand, or listening ear.  When challenges arise, we want them to know there is one place they can go back to where they will receive respect, encouragement, and they will be valued and challenged to move forward in their life process.
